The best choice in this price range.
21 May 2011
I was deciding for a long time between the Saeco Nina Plus Cappuccino and the Delonghi ECO 310 BK, and I picked the latter. I'm very happy with the choice; it makes delicious and aromatic coffee with crema. The main thing is to buy coffee labeled for espresso, otherwise it might not brew properly. For example, I brought coffee beans from Egypt, ground them myself, and the result was a lackluster taste without crema. Either the grind was incorrect or the coffee itself, so I recommend getting coffee specifically for espresso machines, and there will be no issues. I understand they process it differently so that it releases all its flavors quickly under high pressure.
- Coffee tamper, I didn't pay much attention to it when choosing the coffee maker, but it turned out to be a very convenient and necessary thing, Saeco doesn't have it.
- Convenient (removable) water reservoir (transparent), in Saeco it's located at the back and recessed into the body, so to check the remaining water amount, you'll have to take it out, and this will need to be done frequently.
- Fully metallic body, in Saeco even the cup grid is plastic.
- Excellent design, in the first days I couldn't stop admiring it.
The only drawback is the placement of the cappuccinatore. After preparing the milk, drops fall not on the stand, but slightly to the right on the table, which can vary each time. I had to buy a decorative stand-bucket for the drops to fall into.

Comment:
Finally bought this miracle of technology... it truly is a miracle. I took a long time choosing a coffee maker, scrutinizing every detail. I settled on this one. First of all, I want to point out that the coffee maker is actually made from a fully metal body, except for the drip tray), if you don’t believe it or when you tap your fingers on the body and hear a noise like plastic, attach a fridge magnet (which everyone has) to its body. And those consultants should be checked on a lie detector for the accuracy of the information provided to the customer. Overall, I'm satisfied with the purchase. There's almost no noise. In any case, a standard laser printer is much louder (for comparison). It brews excellent coffee, and most importantly, quickly (2 minutes to heat up). The cup warmer, strangely enough, works, you just need to wait at least 40 minutes. The coffee maker is made with quality, you can feel it - smooth lines in the 50s style - RETRO. Quite stable, doesn't hop around on the table. The only drawback is the noise and vibration of the metal drip tray grid. But if you place a couple of regular napkins on top of it and then a coffee cup, the noise immediately disappears. The water tank doesn't leak (knock on wood). Cappuccino turns out delicious.
Advantages: Excellent coffee, super design, quiet in operation, metallic body
Disadvantages: Noise from the metal drip tray, inconvenient extraction of spent coffee.

great model, love it

The final conclusion is as follows: 1) the company De'Longhi continues to proudly uphold the name of its brand. 2) the hardworking little yellow men from China, directly involved in the creation of this product, did not manage to ruin my impression of its anticipated quality this time; 3) definitely take the coffee maker for household use; 4) at least occasionally follow the recommended maintenance instructions for it.
I'll share fresh impressions of the 310 model. First of all, I bought it because the 145 coffee maker broke down after I've successfully used it for exactly 8 years. I must admit that during all these years, I never bothered to clean the heating element, frankly, since there was no necessity for it. The black, angular plastic old lady (in terms of today's home design trends) worked excellently until the pump finally reached the end of its lifespan. Highly appreciating the quality of the new beverage, I'll note that the level of extraction of the grain bouquet will inevitably decrease over time due to pump wear, as this, unfortunately, depends greatly on the many thousands of coffee servings prepared.

Now regarding the specifics of the new model. All the claimed innovations, such as cup warming, anti-drip, and so on, remain in the realm of advertising, because in the morning you're rushing off to work, and these things (or their absence) simply don't cross your mind. When using the old model, to achieve the best taste, it was necessary to perform a longer water preparation (simply turning on the "heat" about 30 minutes prior to the "sacrament"). In our case, the 310 very efficiently extracts the oils immediately after the green indicator is turned on.
Now about the drawbacks. With all due respect to the elegance of the new curved handle, the old filter holder was solid metal, and there was no need to think about which side and how much force to apply when placing it for drying. Now, in order to extend the life of the plastic spouts of the holder, I recommend placing the handle on any surface with the spouts facing up. Furthermore, the average right-handed person may find it inconvenient to use due to the placement of the gasket on the left side of the machine's body, as you now have to reach and aim carefully to avoid coffee product loss when inserting it. And more. If I were the manufacturer, I would continue to hide the water tank inside the machine's body, as the traces and deposits from our native tap water, even when mitigated by a household filter, will over time leave a lasting impression, adversely affecting the aesthetic experiences of beauty lovers and advocates of order in the kitchen.
