The Linksys Compact Wireless-G USB Adapter allows you to wirelessly connect a USB-equipped desktop or laptop computer with very high transfer speeds. Combining USB 2.0 and Wireless-G features, the adapter delivers data transfer speeds of up to 54 Mbps (5x faster than 802.11b) without the need to open the desktop case for installation.
To install, simply plug the adapter into any available USB port. (The device is compatible with both USB 1.1 and 2.0 ports, however USB 2.0 protocol provides faster transfer speeds.) The adapter can be connected directly to a computer or using the included USB extension cable, allowing you to place the device in any convenient location up to five feet from the computer .
The device is powered by the USB connection, so no power cord is required. The setup wizard that comes with your device will guide you step by step through all the steps to configure the adapter to work on your wireless network. The Compact Wireless-G USB adapter is also compatible with the Wireless-B (802.11b) networking standard, providing data rates up to 11 Mbps. Wireless communication can be secured using industrial WPA technology and encryption using a key up to 128 bits long. This ensures secure data transfer.

Now, to connect to the network, you do not need to drill walls and lay connecting lines through the attic or ceiling.
