Speed up or save?
The set of programs for WAE 24166 is relatively small and includes the traditional “Cotton”, “Synthetics”, etc. Unusual ones include a programme for washing lightly soiled items in 15 minutes and “Fitness” for cleaning the form after sports. The machine can be accelerated at the expense of efficiency (TimePerfect function) or, conversely, energy consumption can be reduced by increasing the cycle time (EcoPerfect). These functions work in all programs except "Quick 15 min" and "Wool".
German practicality
Cars of 2015 are more economical than their predecessors: even inexpensive models meet the A +++ class. WAE 24166 has an energy consumption of 0.72 kW per standard cycle (cotton, 60°C) or approximately 165 kW per year (based on 220 such cycles). And the estimated one-time water consumption is 48 liters. These figures for Bosch are slightly better than many devices with a load of 7-8 kg (180-200 kW, 50-55 L). And in terms of noise, the German car does not stand out among the rest: it reaches 59 and 76 dB during washing and spinning, respectively.
Savings on comfort
The WAE 24166, like other models from the younger Serie 4 line, has a slightly "cut down" functionality — there is no child protection and a delay start timer. In addition, the Bosch device has a small and not very informative display. Therefore, in comparison with more expensive washing machines, it is not so convenient to control its work.
In terms of washing quality, Bosch WAE 24166 is not inferior to more expensive “washers” of 2015. On the other hand, it has an incomplete feature set. Given the low cost of the car ($300), it can be considered a bargain.
