The Bosch PST 700 E jigsaw is low-power (it has a 500-watt motor, of which 300 W is useful), but this is enough for homework. It does not twitch or stall when sawing ordinary plywood or boards up to 50 mm thick (the maximum cutting depth is 70 mm). But when working with hardwoods or glued materials, such as thick OSB, some difficulties can, of course, arise. Therefore, choose this model only if you need a hobby-class jigsaw (and it is better to look for a professional tool among the “blue” Bosch jigsaws, and not the “green ones”).
Not a job, but pure pleasure
Users without exception note how this jigsaw is ergonomically verified and easy to use. It is compact and lightweight (only 1.6 kg, which is significantly lighter than most corded models), highly manoeuvrable and perfect for shaped sawing. Thanks to the high stroke rate (up to 3100 strokes/min), the cut is very high quality and clean. Vibrations during operation are practically not felt, because they are effectively absorbed by the built-in anti-vibration system. Sawdust does not interfere with following the marking line, as they are blown off to the side or collected in a vacuum cleaner connected to the pipe of the chip ejector. Thanks to the SDS format keyless chuck, saw blades can be changed in no time without fussing with screwdrivers and wrenches. In addition, Bosch branded files have T-shanks, so they can be inserted in two ways: with the teeth away from you (to cut like a manual jigsaw) or towards you (to work like a reciprocating saw). The only thing that the instrument lacks for complete happiness is the pendulum movement.
Perfect amateur tool
The Bosch PST 700 E jigsaw is far from being a circular saw or a sawmill. To professional carpenters, its capabilities will seem ridiculous. But for those who like to tinker or independently make repairs in the apartment, this tool is more than enough. Moreover, it is not at all expensive (belongs to the middle price category) and is sold together with a case in which it is convenient to store the jigsaw on the far shelf when it is not needed.
