A compact and lightweight hand-held circular saw from the Bosch DIY family of affordable power tools, models of which are an affordable and functional tool for DIYers who do moderate amounts of work related to linear sawing of wood and other materials of moderate hardness in the home workshop. It is positioned as a product of the middle price category of 2012. It has a standard layout with a dust-proof 1200 W electric motor that provides an impressive rotation speed (up to 5500 rpm). Such characteristics are quite enough for energetic cutting of wood of any species, plywood, fibreboard and chipboard, sandwich panels, laminated chipboard, laminate, thermoplastic polymers and some aluminium alloys (a special disc is required). The manual circular saw Bosch PKS 55 0603500020 is designed for o...peration with discs with a diameter of 160 mm with a bore of 20 mm. The use of a rigid aluminium base plate made it possible to limit the weight of the saw to 3.9 kg. Thanks to the ergonomic handles with rubber grips, the tool does not overload the hands during long working sessions. The maximum depth of cut when cutting without tilt reaches 55 mm (reduced to 44 mm when working at an angle of 45 °). Soft rubber pads on the handles significantly dampen vibration. Comes with a parallel stop.

Saws: types, purpose and selection tipsA brief overview of different types of saws and sawing machines with tips on choosing the right tools
Model overview based on user reviews
The Bosch PKS 55 0603500020 circular saw is generally well-regarded for its reliability, light weight, and powerful 1200-watt engine. Users appreciate its ease of use, with features like a soft-grip handle and a quick-clamping lever for setting depth and angle. The saw is noted for making smooth and clean cuts and is equipped with a solid steel sole and a high-quality Speedline Wood saw blade. However, some users experienced issues, such as the absence of a regular dust collector and instances of the saw overheating or malfunctioning after prolonged use. Despite these drawbacks, many find it a good value for household and workshop tasks, although there are mixed opinions on its durability.

great model, I really liked it

A solid, compact and high-quality tool with a grippy non-slippery handle - a good weight: it is not light, and it does not tear your hands off during work. Makes a smooth and clean cut. With its help, I sawed workpieces from linden and pine - I am satisfied with the result.
Small, functional

An excellent household tool.

Used it for four years. I sawed everything: paneling, furniture panels, timber (200*50 both lengthwise and crosswise), CBPB, OSB, tree trunks, pallets with nails. She did her job. I bought a Makita HS7100. I made a cross section of timber 100*50. Broke during the first hour of operation. Warranty denied - improper operation))))
Reliability, price.
No.

good model, liked it
30 April 2017
I needed a manual circular saw in connection with a large and rather expensive order for which I was contracted. It was necessary to cut wood and plywood to a depth of 40 mm. Since the volume of work was considerable, and the responsibility for the deadlines was strict, I did not buy inexpensive Chinese meat. And I just chose the right model from the assortment of the Bosch brand, famous for its quality. Yes, the brand markup is decent, but I know for sure that even in case of any problems I can go to the service and they will solve my problem there.
Light weight for such a hand tool is important, with a good working tool, but having excess weight is simply tiring to work with. And here it’s only 4 kg, which fit a fairly strong 1200-watt engine, a solid steel sole and a wonderful complete saw blade, which I want to talk about separately. The disc produced by the trademark Speedline Wood elegantly cuts both wood and plywood. There is no need to look for a better disc, this one suits completely. You can cut perpendicular to the plane of the sole, or you can cut at an angle of up to 45 degrees. In any case, the depth and angle are set easily and fixed with a convenient quick-clamping lever. I also liked the soft-grip handle and the switch with a fuse and lock.
There is no regular dust collector. It turns out that it comes only with the PKS 55A model, so this is not really a drawback, but rather my oversight. But for work in the workshop, I connect an industrial vacuum cleaner to it, since the outlet pipe is suitable, and this helps a lot.
