Model overview based on user reviews
The AudioQuest Dragonfly DAC is a highly regarded external DAC that enhances the musical quality of smartphones and laptops, turning them into full-fledged hi-fi players. It features a Texas Instruments TAS1020 audio chip and supports a maximum sampling rate of 96 kHz with a 24-bit DAC resolution. Users appreciate its ability to deliver clear, detailed, and analog-quality sound, especially when paired with services like Tidal. The DAC is compatible with Mac and works well with a type-c to USB adapter. However, the price is a common concern, as it has increased over time despite the product being on the market for several years. The Dragonfly DAC is available in different versions, such as the red and black, and offers a visual indicator for different sample rates through color changes. Overall, it is praised for its neutral sound profile and the completeness it brings to audio setups, making it a worthwhile investment for audio enthusiasts.

Cons

good model, like it
6 February 2023
I've been using the red version of the DAC Dragonfly for a week. When playing mp3 files at a 44.1kHz sample rate, the Dragonfly glowed green. While listening to flac files, the color changed to blue at 48kHz, yellow at 88.2kHz, and purple at 96kHz and above. 6.02.2023.
The smartphone becomes musical when connected to the DAC Dragonfly.
Disadvantages are well described by a quote from the title of the previous comment (10.04.2021) by a user: "The only complaint could be the price, although a year and a half ago I bought it for €48".
use AudioQuest Dragonfly DAC week i recommend it should buy
Only the price can cause dissatisfaction, although a year and a half ago I took it for 1900 UAH

I've been using the black version for a year and a half. With a type-c to USB adapter, it turns a smartphone into a full-fledged hi-fi player. It works particularly well with the Tidal service. The same goes for laptops. However, I would describe the sound as neutral. But the clarity, volume, texture, detail, "analog quality," everything is on point. Headphones? Philips PRO6305 - this combination already has a certain completeness, you can stop there if you're not a fanatic.
A full-fledged DAC without pronounced preferences.
The price is constantly growing, although it entered retail for a long time and during this time more than one generation of such and similar devices has changed.
