Model overview based on user reviews
The Audio-Technica AT-LP120-USB turntable is a blend of classic analog sound and modern technology, featuring a direct drive and an S-shaped aluminum tonearm. It supports playback speeds of 33, 45, and 78 rpm and includes features like tempo adjustment, anti-skating, and reverse playback. The turntable comes with a built-in, switchable phono stage and a USB B connection for digitizing records at 16-bit, 48 kHz quality. While the design is robust with a cast aluminum platter and anti-vibration mounts, some users feel that the pivoting tonearm could lead to distortion compared to tangential tonearms. The product is available in black or silver and is priced around $450, which some consider high compared to vintage models. However, it is praised for its solid build and the ability to upgrade the pickup for enhanced sound quality.
Cons

It’s better to buy yourself a turntable from the heyday of vinyl, back then they knew a lot about music.

Its price is no more than 5000... on market day...
By definition, a rotary tonearm cannot have any advantages.
A pivoting tonearm, only with the correct calculation, positions the needle strictly tangentially to the track at just two points. This corresponds to practically 0 distortion. On the other grooves, distortions increase as you move away from these points. Only a tangential tonearm solves this problem. For the money being asked for this new model, you can find a Sony PS-X 555ES... Feel the difference... In addition, it is unclear what the phono stage is built on. Judging by the presence of a digital output and previous reviews, the manufacturer didn't seem to exert much effort in its execution. The circuit is, unfortunately, not provided.

Any product of the Japanese brand Audio-Technica is an indicator of the good taste of its owner. The AT-LP120-USB turntable is a powerful fusion of analogue warm sound and modern technology.

Solid "Japanese"

The device is made in a minimalist "Spartan" design and is available in black or silver colours. Immediately, we note the considerable weight of the product — almost 11 kg. This is not a plastic toy spinner for 10K rubles, but a solid unit with a cast aluminium platter and massive anti-vibration mounts.

Complete "equipment"

The kit includes a branded slipmat (mat-overlay on the disk), a dust cover, a removable pickup shell, a counterweight (for non-native pickups) and power cords.

The control buttons are intuitive, respond well to pressing, and the pitch control is smooth. Of the additional amenities, there is a needle illumination and a reverse function that allows you to rewind the disc to the fragment you like and listen to it again. The player supports all three disc playback speeds: 33, 45 and 78 rpm.

Soft sound

With the included phono stage and native pickup, by connecting the player to a good receiver, you can get quite a decent sound. At the same time, a pleasant softness will be observed in it, with a fairly dense and deep stage. Whoever this is not enough, can make an “upgrade” — put another pickup, for example, Ortofon, Denon or Grado.

Digitization of records

The player supports recording from a plate in digital format. To do this, it has a USB-B connector and a cable for connecting to a computer, and a CD with the Audacity programme is included. The built-in ADC digitizes your records in 16-bit, 48 kHz quality.

The Audio-Technica AT-LP120-USB is highly regarded by experts and audiophiles alike. Definitely, the player allows you to bring vinyl to a new quality level of sound. But such a pleasure costs a lot — $ 450. But there is always a way out. For less biased listeners, the manufacturer offers a simpler, but much cheaper, Audio-Technica AT-LP60-USB model.

Additional features turntable Audio-Technica AT-LP120-USB:
  • Stroboscopic speed indicator
  • Output signal level (Line): 150 mV
