In our opinion, the most controversial aspect of the latest Macs is the design. In the case of the 2017 version, we have a stylish and slim aluminium body with seamless welding and the highest build quality. On the other hand, the design of Apple's all-in-one PCs hasn't actually changed since 2012, and these huge frames around the screen now look as modern as Andrei Malakhov's attempts to conquer YouTube. Although, you won’t have to carry it in your pocket like a smartphone, so these “centimeters of emptiness” can be tolerated. If you miss these little things, then the computer design is not at all outdated and does not cause any rejection.

Professional-grade display

The display in this modification is not Retina with 4K resolution, but the more familiar Full HD IPS class. However, you won’t be able to find fault with the quality even if you really want to - the brightness and contrast are excellent, and the color calibration is close to ideal. It’s not for nothing that each panel is factory calibrated and looks out of the box just like the doctor ordered. Although, if you work professionally with graphics, then it’s better to pay the extra $200 and take a model with a Retina display, the picture looks god-like on it.

Productive iron

At the same time, the filling allows you to work with professional software for graphics, music production or light video editing. Not to mention simple office applications. At its heart, the 2017 iMac uses a seventh-generation quad-thread Core i5, 8 GB of RAM, integrated Iris Plus Graphics 640 video, and a 1 TB HDD. But there is no customization; adding an additional SSD or memory stick, as in all-in-one PCs on Windows, will not work. This is Apple's usual "buy, install, turn on and don't go inside" policy. Therefore, you should prepare for the fact that it will take time to start the system and applications. Well, or pay extra and take the option with SSD.

6 USB ports and Thunderbolt support

Traditionally, the iMac shines in terms of usability and functionality. Firstly, instead of the standard 4 USB ports for all-in-one PCs (which are always in short supply), here we have all 6. Moreover, a couple of them are in the USB C format and support the universal Thunderbolt interface. Secondly, the built-in speakers and webcam are of good quality; thirdly, the computer comes with a proprietary wireless mouse and keyboard from the Apple Magic series.
