3G-"clamshell"
In the 2000s, flip phones were at the peak of popularity and were popular not only among men, but also among women. And until now, this form factor is in demand, since the device does not take up much space in your pocket or bag, and in the event of a fall, the case will protect the screen from damage. Of course, there are more modern "toads" with flexible displays — such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip and Motorola Razr 2019, but they are expensive and more fragile than conventional flip phones. Alcatel's model has a low price tag and will suit both pensioners and children who have not yet had time to taste all the delights of modern gadgets, and their parents who prefer good old feature phones to smartphones. Claimed support for 3G and the ability to go online, but this will affect the battery life. If with 2G a 970 mAh battery will provide up to 5.5 hours of talk time and up to 280 hours of standby time, then with 3G the figures drop to 4.5 and 200 hours, respectively. Of course, I wanted a better battery from a push-button device, because usually in such devices one charge is enough for almost a week, or even more.
Large buttons and screen
Another advantage for the elderly or people with poor eyesight is the large enough buttons and 2.8-inch screen, on which text is clearly visible. At the same time, the device itself is compact: its dimensions are 106x55.4x16.9 mm, and its weight is 108 g. The design of the phone also allows you to manage calls: answering a call by opening the cover and resetting it by closing it. This is very convenient, as you don't have to search for the keys you need, especially in poor lighting conditions.
A 2-megapixel camera is located on the back panel, which is better to use when absolutely necessary — you won’t be able to take good quality family photos. Below it are a flash, which can also act as a flashlight, and an indicator that signals charging or an incoming call. Memory (128 MB operative and 256 MB internal) is enough to write down the necessary numbers in the phone book and save some melodies and photos. If desired, its volume can be increased using a memory card, but the phone only accepts microSD up to 32 GB. But the slot for a SIM card, unfortunately, is only one.
