The controller of the future comes from the past
The manufacturer does not specify which controller is used in the SSD, limiting itself to calling it the "next generation controller". Judging by the data on the network, this is the Silicon Motion SM2263XT, the younger brother of the well-proven SM2262. Compared to the SM2262, it has a reduced number of channels for connecting flash memory to four, and also lacks a DRAM interface. It has proven itself well in low-cost models, but somehow it’s not entirely fair to talk about the generation of the future for a controller that has been on the market for several years.
High IOPS and drawdown when filling the SLC buffer
The list of advantages of this model includes a reasonable cost, excellent reading speed, fast work with 4 KB blocks, a three-year warranty and a wide variety of volume modifications. And among the features, let's recall the presence of an SLC buffer, the capacity of which is about 5 – 7% of the free volume. After it is full, the linear write speed is seriously reduced from 1100 MB / s to 160 – 300 MB / s, which makes it similar to inexpensive SATA SSDs that “sag” in a similar way.
