Apple's smartwatch with the SE prefix in the name is a more affordable than regular Apple Watch, a model that is essentially the successor to the Apple Watch 3, but inherits the advanced features and design of the Apple Watch 6. The device is made in the traditional "Apple Watch". » style — with a square display, two buttons for side control and an aluminium housing with water protection according to the IP68 standard.
Inside, a dual-core Apple S5 processor is installed, and the gadget is running the proprietary WatchOS operating system. Apple Watch SE does not have the ability to measure blood oxygen levels and do ECG, but it can monitor the heart rate during training and rest, support various types of physical activity, count the distance traveled and the number of calories burned, monitor the duration and quality of sleep, recognize the owner’s fall and send an SOS signal, and are also equipped with a built-in GPS module, compass, altimeter and barometer. In addition, you can give commands to the Siri voice assistant, answer incoming calls, receive messages and notifications from your smartphone, listen to music, podcasts and audiobooks, and pay for purchases contactlessly using Apple Pay. The battery life on a single battery charge, like the older models, is 18 hours.

The Apple Watch has always been in the top league of wearables. To compete with the horde of “smart” companions on the wrist of the mid-low-cost segment, the newly-made model with the prefix SE is called upon.
The continuity of generations
The watch is positioned as a replacement for the third generation of Apple Watch. The model retains many of the signature features of the Series 3, including fall detection, watch face sharing, sleep monitoring and, of course, an advanced fitness assistant. The OLED screen, which has grown in size by a good third, and the internal “hardware” with a fast S5 processor at the head have undergone an upgrade in it. The updated chipset provides a twofold increase in watch performance (in the context of comparison with the Apple Watch Series 3).
Internal hardware
On the shelves of Apple Watch SE can be seen in two sizes — 40 mm and 44 mm. In the maximum configuration, the watch is equipped with an eSIM and an LTE module. They also have a built-in compass, pedometer, heart rate monitor, NFC chip. But the prerogative of equipping with a pulse oximeter and an ECG sensor was left to the older Apple Watch Series 6, as well as the Always on Display function.
Joining the Apple Ecosystem
The wearable gadget works under watchOS 7, which Apple rolled out as part of WWDC-2020. Out of the box, the watch comes with a new Fitness+ fitness app that offers workout tracking and virtual classes.
