Model overview based on user reviews
The Creative Sound BlasterX G6 is a highly praised external sound card, particularly noted for its exceptional sound quality in gaming and rich functionality. Users appreciate its ability to transform gaming audio, making old games sound new, and its impressive virtual 7.1 surround sound for both games and movies. The card offers a wide range of settings, allowing for perfect adjustment for various scenarios, and it supports headphones with low sensitivity, up to 600 Ohm. While it excels in gaming, some users find it less suitable for music compared to other sound cards. It is not designed for analog surround sound and may have compatibility issues with Mac OS. Despite these minor drawbacks, the G6 is considered a top-tier choice for PC audio, offering incredible features for its price and being a worthwhile investment for gamers and movie enthusiasts.

This card is one of the most ultimate solutions in terms of DAC + headphone amplifier. It's not embarrassing to connect headphones costing 5-7 times the price of the card. It can drive absolutely anything, any headphones up to 600 Ohm. I used this card for games, movies, and music for over a year and was very satisfied. I only gave it up because I wanted to switch to a wireless option, otherwise for its price - it's the best purchase.
Price
Incredibly cool features for the money
Rich package
Highest sound quality
Decent post-processing of spatial sound effects (virtual 7.1 for games and movies - amazing)
Mode of complete absence of effects
This card is not designed for connecting analog surround sound... Though, considering the orientation, it's hardly a drawback.
Some compatibility issues with Mac OS

Overall good, but the surround sound isn't great

To be honest, the card disappointed me, I expected a bit more. I previously used a card from ASUS, but when upgrading my computer, there was no room for an internal card, so I decided to get a new one. Considering that ASUS doesn't support their software and drivers properly, I got this one.

In terms of sound, I can't say there's a noticeable difference from the previous card, but the spatial sound simulation here didn't impress me at all. It's hard to tell when the sound is coming from the front or back, it sounds almost the same - centered. On the old card, this was more pronounced, and even when enabling Dolby Atmos on Windows, it simulates everything wonderfully, so I use direct mode + Dolby Atmos.

Maybe there's something wrong with the card or it needs to be set up "in a special way," but no matter how I adjust the spatial sound settings, it's not the same as Dolby Atmos or my old ASUS card.

So if spatial sound is important to you, this is not the strong suit of this card.
Supports headphones up to 600Ω, the fact that it is external and the sound is quite good
The spatial sound simulation is worse than that of a cheaper card from ASUS or Dolby Atmos
For games yes, for music not so much

In games, it's like a new experience; old games sound new, but listening to music after the Creative Sound Blaster Z is not pleasant no matter how much you tweak the settings, but that's the internal one.
Sound quality in games, functionality
Not universal, not suitable for music
