Monochrome display
The German company TFA Dostmann GmbH & Co is one of the leading European manufacturers of electronic measuring instruments, watches, compasses, thermometers, barometers, hygrometers and weather stations. More than 2 million units of the company's products are shipped annually from the Wertheim plant to customers in 80 countries. The TFA Sky weather station consists of an almost square base unit (123x52x117 mm) with a monochrome display and a remote transmitter with medium-range (60 m) wireless temperature and humidity sensors operating at 433 MHz radio frequency. The outdoor temperature is measured within -20 °C ~ +50 °C, and the measurement range of internal temperatures from -10 °C to +50 °C allows the device to be used not only in residential premises, but also in warehouse and outbuildings. Here, a simpler relative humidity level sensor is used, which captures values starting at 20%. But these are trifles, compared with the lack of a function for measuring atmospheric pressure.
Two reset modes for Min/Max temperatures
The contrast screen with a grey background displays the weather forecast, an alarm clock (12/24 h), date and day of the week, as well as temperature and humidity outside and inside the room (there is a comfort index). The weather forecast is displayed graphically with 5 characteristic symbols (clear, light cloudy, cloudy, rainy and snowy), and at sub-zero temperatures the frost indicator lights up. The weather station has an alarm function when the temperature reaches the threshold values set by the user. The device additionally records the maximum and minimum temperature values, which have 2 storage modes. They can be reset manually or entrust this task to automation, which will remove the peak readings after 24 hours. The built-in LED-backlight of the screen paints the background in a pleasant yellowish colour. Special thanks should be said to the manufacturer for the ability to customize the interface in Russian. The indoor unit is designed for desktop operation and is powered by 3 AAA batteries only (not included). This model is available in 2 colours: with white (35.1152.02) and black (35.1152.01) base station case.
