In terms of reliable grip on snowy and icy winter roads, Michelin X-Ice North 4 can be counted on the fingers of one hand. And that's why.

The abundance of steel "teeth"

The main load on slippery roads is taken by the steel “teeth” of the Smart Stud spikes. In size 245/45 R18, there are 268 of them on the tyre tread surface. Both in the longitudinal and in the transverse direction, the spikes are placed exactly in 30 lines. The shape of the "claws" is similar to that used on professional rally tyres. At the same time, only the carbide insert of each spike with a special rim is in contact with the road, allowing the model to literally “bite” into the ice.

Coupling edges

The central rib of the V-shaped tyre tread is a combination of alternating blocks located at an angle of about 45° relative to the middle of the treadmill. The chopped edges of the blocks create numerous gripping edges, helping the tyre when moving through the snow. A complete picture of the tread pattern is formed by continuing "shoulders", the special placement of which determines the tyre's stable behavior when manoeuvring.

Excellent contact

The temperature limit for tyres is an indicator of a mercury column of a thermometer of -65 °C. The Michelin X-Ice North 4 maintains excellent ground contact in the harshest operating conditions. In addition, the phenomena of hydroplaning and slashplaning are alien to the tyre, and in terms of driving and acoustic comfort, it will give odds to any "spike".
