The Michelin X-Ice North 4 holds the record for the most spikes among studded winter tyres. At least, such a model was definitely at the time of the announcement in 2018.

Abundant studding

Compared to the previous generation Michelin X-Ice North 3 tyre, the model has added a good hundred "steel teeth". There are about 250 of them per wheel. Smart Stud anti-skid spikes are dispersed along the tread plane in 22 lines (both in the longitudinal and transverse directions of wheel rotation). With conical caps, they bite into the icy surface to a great depth. Landing nests of spikes are equipped with special "wells" from which crushed ice chips are removed.

On ice, like on asphalt

The tyre tread has a characteristic herringbone shape. The direction of the blocks of the central zone, coupled with their extensive lamellaization, determines the excellent cesspool properties of rubber. In parallel, Michelin X-Ice North 4 has powerful lugs in the shoulders. The tyre demonstrates confident traction on slippery road surfaces and quick braking in emergency situations.

palm

The drainage system of the model has an increased capacity for instant removal of water and melted snow from the contact patch. Long-term mileage before tread abrasion and low rolling resistance are also sent to the treasury of pluses of the tyre. In various independent tests of the "prickly" winter tyre Michelin X-Ice North 4 consistently wins prizes.
