The German concern Continental AG manages a good dozen subsidiary tyre brands. Take, for example, the Slovak company Matador, under the auspices of which relatively affordable rubber is produced. For the winter season, many east european car owners “shoe” their “iron horses” in MP 92 Sibir Snow SUV M + S tyres.

Asymmetrical tread

Slovak tyre manufacturers preferred to equip tyres with an asymmetric tread, each zone of which is responsible for its own scope of work. So, the outer side of the pattern with different-wide blocks provides excellent grip on dry surfaces and low tyre rolling noise. The elements of the inner part, in turn, form a plurality of coupling edges with a snow-covered canvas. A developed network of drainage channels between the blocks of the inner side of the tread quickly and effectively removes water and snow slush from the contact spot.

3D lamelization

The tread blocks of the Matador MP 92 Sibir Snow SUV M+S are generously studded with 3D sipes. These sipes help the tyre grip better on slippery roads and increase block stiffness, resulting in improved handling on dry pavement. The model reveals its best qualities in the snow, but on a wet surface it sometimes demonstrates weak lateral stability.

On store shelves

One of the complaints about tyres is a mediocre indicator of fuel efficiency. However, the car will “eat” fuel only a little more than usual.
