Designer's Favorite
Recently, manufacturers of gaming laptops have begun to abandon overly aggressive design and began to try to draw ideas from business and fashion laptops. The Lenovo Legion Y730 is a great example of this trend, with thin bezels, clean lines, stylish finishes and a unique hinge that holds the screen and gives the laptop a unique look. It will be strange if the Legion Y730 doesn't win a couple of statuettes for the best design.
Game hardware in the business class case
The laptop is powered by an eighth-generation six-core Core i7 chip, which operates at frequencies from 2.2 to 4.1 GHz, and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti video accelerator with 4 GB of video memory. Complementing the picture are 16 GB of RAM, running at a frequency of 2666 MHz, and a disk array of HDD and SSD with a total volume of 1128 GB. In terms of perspectives, the graphics card could be more powerful (especially against the background of the rest of the hardware), but right now it will easily pull both the third Witcher and the future Mortal Kombat 11 at high graphics settings.
A keyboard built for hours of skating
Speaking about this model, Lenovo representatives most often focus not on design and hardware, but on the keyboard, which is called a reason for pride. The keys here are large, soft and quiet — and it is very comfortable to play and work on them. The increase in the size of the keys affected the location of the arrows and the number block. At first, it is unusual to use them, but after half an hour you completely forget about this feature. The backlighting of the keyboard here is also unusual: instead of an aggressive red colour, it glows with neon like an 80s pop album cover and supports Corsair iCUE synchronization technology.
Fast Game Matrix
The screen in the Legion Y530 is quite good by the standards of gaming laptops in this price category: a 17-inch IPS matrix with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels has a high refresh rate of 144 Hz and good, but far from perfect, colour reproduction.
USB-C and Thunderbolt
Otherwise, the laptop boasts high-quality speakers with Dolby Audio support, a set of all necessary ports including USB-C and Thunderbolt, as well as a fairly standard battery with a maximum battery life of 6 hours. As with any other 17-inch model, it is better to sit down to play closer to the outlet. In addition, it is worth noting a well-thought-out cooling system with a pair of large coolers at the base, which effectively cope with the removal of hot air.
