It's time to update
In 2019, Lenovo has seriously updated its line of IdeaPad multimedia laptops. Previously, conditionally gaming models with good video cards were scattered among a great many different modifications, but now a separate model for economical gamers L340 Gaming has appeared.
O means optimal
This is a family of mid-format gaming laptops with a quality for its price 15-inch display, a full-size backlit keyboard, good battery life and a balanced hardware configuration. Looking at the characteristics of the model we have chosen, the epithet “optimal” comes to mind: a ninth-generation six-core Core i7, 16 GB of RAM, a 1000 GB HDD, a 128 GB SSD and a GTX 1050 graphics card with 3 GB of video memory. A year ago, such a configuration was found mainly in top-end laptops for one and a half to two thousand dollars. However the graphics card there would be a little more powerful, but taking into account the price tag of the L340 Gaming (which is just $1000), asking for more would be blasphemy.
Modest and tasteful
Also, the price did not affect the appearance of the laptop in any way: an elegant, moderately strict plastic case with a brushed metal finish, a flat lid with a modest Lenovo logo that looks like a T-shirt tag, and no glowing decor elements that you expect from a gaming laptop. The frames around the screen would be a little thinner, and it would be generally excellent. In general, after the chic-looking Legion series, Lenovo designers again worked for a solid five.
15" IPS gaming display
This model uses a 15-inch mid-level IPS screen. The screen is matte, so there are no stray glare and reflections in it, while the crystalline effect is practically absent. The margin of maximum brightness is not the highest, the colour gamut is limited by the eye, and the colour gamut is calm and never flashy. Compared to other $1,000 gaming laptops, the display gets a 7 out of 10 retin.
Fast charging and gigabit LAN port
But in terms of additional features, the IdeaPad L340 15 Gaming even wins something. At least, fast charging in this class, we met a few times. Even if the laptop will hang on the table most of the time, it is unlikely to interfere. Further on the list of utilities are added a backlit keyboard, a USB-C port and a gigabit LAN port and a dual-band Wi-Fi receiver. Only the battery slightly spoils the impression: according to Lenovo's passport, they promise 9 hours, but in real tests in PCMark, it lasted 4 hours with a tail of an hour in office mode and a little less than an hour in gaming. And this is at an average brightness of the screen.
