For high-performance passenger cars and some electric cars, the Goodyear winter tire portfolio includes the flagship UltraGrip Performance Plus model. This modification is designed for installation on the wheels of Tesla brand electric cars.
Improved resistance to aquaplaning
The tire uses a symmetrical directional tread pattern with a V-shaped design in the central part. The shoulders are separated from the medial segment by two wide and voluminous hydroevacuation channels of a circular shape. The model is absolutely resistant to aquaplaning and slushplaning - the tread is cleared of excess water and slush almost instantly.
Stability of adhesion properties
The stability of the rubber's grip properties is ensured by the well-thought-out arrangement of the central ridge of tread blocks and a dense network of 3D lamellas. The edges of the blocks and the serrations of the sipes allow the tire to confidently "bite" into snowy and icy road surfaces. This also helps to reduce the car's braking distance. However, on absolutely dry asphalt, the model may not show its best performance, sometimes demonstrating slow reactions to steering commands - this does not happen often, but it is possible.
Resin-saturated rubber compound
The rubber compound of the model is enriched with resins using Traction Protect technology. These additives help to restore tire deformations faster when driving on roads of dubious quality. Thus, reliable grip and short braking distance are maintained in all operating conditions of the Goodyear UltraGrip Performance Plus. The degree of tire wear can be monitored using the snowflake indicator, which wears off when the remaining tread height is less than 4 mm.
