The Asus ZenBook Pro UX550VD is one of the best laptops on the market in terms of size and performance. At 18.9mm thick and 1.8kg in weight, there's a powerful hardware inside that turns it into a powerful workstation/gaming laptop that you can take with you wherever you go.
Think brother of the MacBook
I am glad that this lightness of the laptop did not affect the structural strength in any way: the case is made of a single billet of aluminium and assembled to last. Also, the frameless design has a positive effect on the dimensions. The 15-inch display is surrounded by a very thin bezel on the top and sides, and there is a wider strip at the bottom with the Asus logo. Because of this, the sleek ZenBook is often compared to a MacBook in reviews.
Balanced iron
ZenBook Pro has a quad-core Core i5 processor (2.5 GHz — 3.5 GHz), 8 GB of RAM, a 256 GB SSD drive (memory can be increased with an M.2 connector) and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 graphics card with an excellent margin of video memory of 4 GB. This filling allows you to comfortably play the most voracious toys or work in Photoshop, Cubase and other professional software.
Up to 14 hours battery life
Overall, with the ZenBook Pro UX550VD, the devil is in the details. For example, the laptop has a well-thought-out cooling system that does not allow the aluminium case to get very hot, even if you go to Novigrad for three days. A four-speaker system from Hi-Fi acoustics manufacturer Harman Kardon produces powerful and clear stereo sound. The 4790 mAh battery can last up to 14 hours of browsing and up to 10 hours of video playback.
The devil is in the details
Plus, the ZenBook has a built-in fingerprint scanner, fast charging, a pair of modern USB-C 3.1 gen2 ports, Thunderbolt support, and a backlit keyboard. Perhaps the only fly in the ointment in this barrel of honey is a not very convenient keyboard layout with a flattened block of arrows and a power button, which for some reason is located next to the Backspace.
