From the press release:

Updates to the original Apple Mighty Mouse were expected by many users who were not satisfied with the small and not always convenient trackball integrated instead of the traditional scroll wheel. Now this event has happened.

The new mouse changed its name, body shape, and finally lost any mechanical controls. They were replaced by a touch panel that covers the entire surface of the device. In addition, the optical sensor has been replaced with a laser one.

In addition to emulating the left and right mouse buttons, the Magic Mouse 's touchpad supports horizontal and vertical scrolling, as well as two-finger gestures (navigating between pages in Safari, photos in iPhoto, etc.). So far, the mouse does not have many additional features and it does not look as revolutionary as some Microsoft prototypes, but over time, Apple can significantly expand the functionality of the device, and users will only need to update drivers and software.

The Magic Mouse is a wireless mouse and connects to a PC or laptop via Bluetooth. The device is powered by two AA batteries, the charge of which is enough for four months of battery life. The manipulator is compatible with Mac computers running Mac OS X 10.5.8 and higher.
