Laptop Acer Aspire 7 A715-42G can be considered an entry-level gaming computer. The gaming ins and outs of the model are issued by a discrete GeForce GTX 1650 graphics card with 4 GB of GDDR6 memory, a frequency of 8000 MHz and a 128-bit bus.
"Iron" components
The potential of the graphics card is revealed by the combination of "iron" components with a six-core 12-thread AMD Ryzen 5 5500U processor at the head, created on the basis of the 7-nanometer AMD Zen 2 Lucienne microarchitecture. The base frequency of the processor is 2.1 GHz, dynamic reaches 4 GHz. The amount of "RAM" on board the laptop is 16 GB. Storage is entrusted to a 512TB Samsung M.2 2280 NVMe SSD drive.
Standard IPS Screen
The model uses an ordinary IPS-display with FullHD resolution of the displayed image and a matte finish. Its strengths are considered to be large viewing angles and uniform backlighting, weak points are a low peak brightness threshold (250 cd / m²) and low colour gamut (only 45% NTSC). On such a screen it is nice to watch movies and series, but it is not suitable for graphics processing.
Full set
Now let's talk about the nice little things. So, the model has a full-size island-type keyboard with an additional numeric keypad and single-level white backlighting. The touchpad of the laptop is equipped with a fingerprint sensor. Plenty of the computer and connection ports, dispersed on the side faces of the case. On the right side there is a power connector, a USB 2.0 port and a combo audio jack, the left side is greeted with a Kensington lock, HDMI, LAN connector, a USB-C 3.2 gen1 port and a pair of USB A 3.2 gen1. The icing on the cake is high-speed Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax).

Fast enough SSD; Keyboard; Processor; Design; Decent battery life; Current wireless modules (Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5). I don't understand why all manufacturers haven't switched to modern wireless standards yet, but that's exactly why I chose THIS laptop, not the HP with a similar processor, but with Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 4.2; Color reproduction; Mediocre touchpad (it's okay, there are even convenient gestures, but a mouse is much more pleasant); Initially, the F1-F12 buttons work as functional keys, and to press F1 you need to simultaneously hold the FN key. Naturally, I changed this in the BIOS right away, but it's unclear why it's like this. For inexperienced users, this can become a problem; Sound: loud, without distortion, but quite mediocre, good for watching movies, but it's better not to listen to music; 1 slot for installing SSD (which is obviously already occupied). That is, if 512 GB SSD becomes insufficient for you, you won't be able to add a second SSD, only replace the one already installed. |
A decent laptop with good specs, quiet, powerful, plenty of space on the drive to start, and I don't really like to keep clutter, everything unnecessary is deleted including games, of which I have 2. Performance is alright, the beech on AMD stone. They're not there, I'd tweak the bass, but overall it's not bad. |

The SSD is fairly fast, and the processor performs well (Ryzen 7 5700U). I even tried downloading and playing one game. Dead by Daylight runs at ultra settings at 50-60 FPS, with no freezes, and the processor temperature didn’t rise above 80 degrees, averaging 75. However, I deleted it after 30 minutes because playing on a small 15.6" screen is uncomfortable, besides, the laptop wasn’t intended for that.
I was pleased with the keyboard, it’s pleasant to type on, with distinct yet quiet keystrokes. The brightness of the backlight, although not adjustable, is well set, doesn’t strain the eyes, and works well in the dark.
Battery life. While watching videos at 80% brightness in Better Battery mode (there's also Power Saver mode, which would last a bit longer), the laptop lasted 6 hours and still had 10-15% left, autonomy is OK. There’s also a proprietary Acer Care Center utility, which, when plugged in, allows setting a charge limit (80%) to prolong battery life.
The only downside for me was the TERRIBLE color representation. After a home monitor with 97% sRGB, the laptop’s 60% (if I’m not mistaken, I couldn’t find the exact info now, but I saw it somewhere) looks, to say the least, mediocre. You can watch videos and movies, but for color work - absolutely not. Since my line of work doesn’t require a high-quality screen, it's not a problem.
