— nickel-zinc batteries are the next evolutionary step after nickel-metal hydride. They have no memory effect, have lower self-discharge rates (compared to Ni-Mh) and extremely low internal resistance, which makes it possible to charge the battery at an accelerated pace using high current. At the same time, Ni-Zn batteries are sensitive to deep discharge and overcharging.
