Print type
—
Laser — the printing module is actually identical to ones used in laser printers, providing high quality printing at a relatively low cost. From time to time you have to change the cartridge.
—
Inkjet. Such a fax is almost a clone of an inkjet printer. `Inkjet` faxes are usually not very expensive, but the cost of printing can vary widely.
—
Thermal transfer. Printing is carried out by heating the coloring matter of the thermal tape / thermofilm with the print head. You can print on regular paper types. These faxes are not very expensive.
—
Printing on thermal paper. The only class of faxes that require the use of special paper that is sensitive to heat (such as shop receipts are often printed on). Printing on thermal paper does not require the use of special toner, but the thermal paper itself is expensive and produces poor image quality.
Print speed
The maximum number of pages a fax can print per minute. Typically, the speed is somewhat lower than that of printers using the appropriate technology (laser, inkjet, etc.), however, the tasks facing the fax owner are somewhat different.
Paper cutter
A special
device that automatically cuts paper after receiving and printing a fax message. Not found in faxes for standard paper, used in models with roll feed.
Phone features
—
Caller ID. Automatic caller ID. Allows you to find out the number of the caller and/or sender of the message.
—
Speakerphone. The ability to conduct a telephone conversation without using a handset, including — at a considerable distance from the fax.
—
Answering machine. The ability to leave a voice message for a caller who wants to send you a fax, as well as the ability to leave a response voice message.
—
Autodial. The ability to send a fax even in the absence of its operator — when the line is free or available.
—
Notebook. Allows you to store several numbers of recipients in the fax memory, quickly organize the reception / sending of messages, and also make mailings to several recipients at the same time (during one session).
Paper/cartridge replacement indicator
Lets you determine whether the cartridge needs replacing and whether the paper in tray needs replenishing (or inserting a new roll).
Auto feed tray capacity
The larger the capacity of the tray, the less often you have to worry about refilling paper in it.
